Solvent Recovery, Distillation and Stripping

Solvent Recovery

In most circumstances the recovery of solvents from industrial process emissions is both financially and ecologically desirable. Indeed, current european legislative policy states that the preferred method for the control of VOC emissions is recovery.

The technologies available from Sutcliffe Speakman for the recovery of solvents from VOC emissions are:

  • regenerable carbon adsorption,
  • distillation
  • and stripping.

The choice of appropriate technology depends upon the physical and chemical characteristics of the solvent.

Its miscibility, solubility and boiling point can determine its suitability for distillation or stripping. Physical Properties Data

Its adsorption characteristics onto activated carbon determine its suitability for regenerable adsorption. Carbon Adsorption Characteristics

The technological philosophy of the company supports the legislation, recovering an expensive resource for re-use - the 'friendly' option - whilst offering a return on investment in some cases as little as one year.

Carbon Adsorption Case Study

Sutcliffe Speakman supplied a gasket manufacturer with this regenerable carbon adsorption system.

Treating 300kg/hr of Toluene in an airflow of 55,000 m³/hr.
